So What is Bullying?

Bullying involves an initial desire to hurt, this desire is expressed in action, someone is hurt, the action is directed by a more powerful person or group, it is without justification, it is typically repeated, and it is done so with evident enjoyment.

Bullying is an imbalance and misuse of power between individuals or groups.. This behaviour is repeated over time and comes in many different forms.

Bullying can take many different forms:

  • Physical bullying includes causing physical harm – punching, fighting or invading someone’s personal space.
  • Verbal bullying includes name calling, teasing, spreading rumours, , swearing or using offensive language.
  • Exclusion or Social Bullying is leaving a person or group of people out of social or group activities.
  • Cyber bullying is bullying using mobiles, text messaging, social networking , emails, web and instant messaging.
  • Verbal bullying includes name calling, spreading rumours, swearing or using offensive language.
  • Victimisation includes stand-over tactics, picking on others and repeated exclusion.
  • Racial bullying includes bullying targeting a person’s race or personal history.
  • Sexual bullying or harassment includes touching or brushing against another person in a sexual manner.


Our Anti Bullying Workshop Aims

  2. Talk about their personal experiences of bullying and its negative impact.
  3. Identify how participants can deal with bullying situations positively and constructive manner.
  4. Identify sources of help when confronted with bullying.
  5. Work with a professional actor in role plays, to act out bullying scenarios that have directly affected the young people and identify possible solutions

Our bullying workshops encourage bullying awareness and aim to empower young people with the skills to tackle bullying using their creativity and imagination. How Do our Anti-Bullying Workshops Work?

The workshop begins with drama role plays run by a professional expert facilitator to introduce the topic, and prepare the participants for a group discussion on the different forms of bullying.

Participants are then encouraged to try to find practical solutions to deal with the issues. The workshop will consider other issues such as racism, exclusion, why people bully and where and how individuals can get help if being bullied.

Also covered are important areas such as conflict resolution and resisting peer pressure. In this interactive workshop participants will learn the key ingredients needed to create an atmosphere of zero tolerance towards bullying in classrooms and schools.
