2020 Dreams Personal Hygiene and Grooming workshops deliver an ideal introduction to personal hygiene for kids, teens or even young adults, depending on the requirements of your organisation.

With so much work involved in ensuring students are educated to a high standard, teachers cannot be expected to look after their personal hygiene and grooming as well. Yet even the most intelligent child or teenager will be disadvantaged if they let themselves down by failing to look after their appearance or indulging in dirty habits.

Body odour; bad breath; greasy, unkempt hair and long, dirty fingernails are just some of the common examples of a lack of basic self-care.

Therefore, it is well worth schools considering bringing in outside help, particularly if there are a small number of children in need of attention and you do not want to cause humiliation by singling them out.

As with all 2020 Dreams courses, we focus on fun and hands-on activities, ensuring all children are involved and stimulated and none are ever singled out. We are also careful to respect cultural differences when discussing matters of personal hygiene.

What is Personal Hygiene and Grooming?

In a nutshell, personal hygiene covers all aspects of keeping our bodies clean and preventing the spread of germs by following certain accepted practices such as washing hands before meals, covering the mouth when coughing and bathing regularly.

Grooming covers additional practices which we follow to create a tidy and neat appearance including brushing or combing and styling hair, trimming nails and wearing clean, well-fitting clothes and footwear.

Our personal hygiene for kids workshop will cover a range of basic skills such as tooth-brushing, nail-trimming and hand-washing, presented in a creative way that kids will love.

Ultimately they will leave the session confident in their ability to manage their personal hygiene and able to conduct themselves in a manner that will set a good example for the school as well as increase the children’s own sense of pride and self-respect.

Personal Hygiene and Employers

In addition to providing workshops on personal hygiene for kids, we can tailor our Personal Hygiene and Grooming content for older children and even young adults who are about to enter the job market.

Young people with poor personal hygiene create a glass ceiling for themselves that no amount of study or preparation will defeat. Employers have to be confident that their employees will create a good impression of their business or organisation, particularly if they are involved in a customer-facing capacity. In industries where cleanliness is vital, for example, healthcare and food production, poor personal hygiene is not an option. If applicants fail to grasp this, constant rejection can leave their confidence at rock bottom, creating a vicious cycle.

2020 Dreams Personal Hygiene and Grooming workshops can sensitively approach this delicate area, focusing on the importance of making a good first impression and setting age-appropriate activities that assist participants in brushing up on their hygiene and grooming skills.

The National Curriculum and Personal Hygiene for Kids

Schools have to provide PSHE education throughout primary and secondary school, and a workshop that helps to improve personal hygiene for kids can be designed to complement other personal health and social development topics. At the end of primary school or beginning of secondary school, a personal hygiene and grooming course can fit in well with Sex and Relationships education since puberty brings with it a host of new personal care challenges.
