Healthy Eating Workshop
Children’s nutrition needs to be a central concern for everyone involved in their lives. The effect of poor diet on children’s health and welfare is rarely out of the news, but there is less said about how malnutrition impacts learning.
Our Healthy Eating workshops for kids address excessive sugar and artificial additives that often play their part in classroom hyperactivity, impairing children’s ability to concentrate, while the opposite problem, a lack of energy, can also cause problems with motivation and performance.
Add to this the damaging effect on self-esteem that results from obesity and it becomes clear why teachers need to be interested in what their students are eating.
Some schools have proactively brought in measures to tackle poor nutritional habits, for example banning sugary drinks or snacks at lunchtime, but what is really needed is effective healthy eating education that persuades children to want to look after their own health. This is where 2020 Dreams Healthy Eating workshops for kids and teens come in.
2020 Dreams Healthy Eating Workshops
2020 Dreams workshops work because they revolve around fun and hands-on activity. Rather than lecture children on what they should be eating, and making them feel ashamed for choices that they are not wholly responsible for, our workshops back up nutritional facts with absorbing tasks that drive home the healthy eating messages so that they really stick.
The choice is a central theme in our Healthy Eating workshops for kids, and once children take on board the fact that nutritional balance leads to long-term health and wellbeing, and that they have the power – and the right – to make healthy choices, many do go on to value nutrition and change their eating habits.
Our workshop activities can be tailored for any age group and customised to meet the most special requirements. Our facilitators are knowledgeable and experienced with the ability to inspire and motivate children of all backgrounds.

Healthy Eating and the National Curriculum
Although 2020 Dreams Healthy Eating workshops for kids work very well as stand-alone sessions, they can deliver added benefit when tied in with National Curriculum subjects.
There are many topics that can be brought to life by a healthy eating workshop, particularly those taught in PSHE and Science. The need to eat the right types of food in the right quantities is currently taught in Year Two of primary school, Year Four takes a look at the digestive system and Year Six focuses on how diet affects body function.
Moving on to the secondary school National Curriculum, and Key Stage Three children take a more in-depth look at nutrition and digestion. The knowledge gained in all of these areas of study can be given an extra dimension by linking it to the practical activities and positive lifestyle messages delivered by our healthy eating workshops for kids and teenagers.
BNF Healthy Eating Week
Another popular time for looking at booking healthy eating workshops for kids is during the annual BNF Healthy Eating Week. This week is dedicated to introducing children to new foods, taking them out on food-related trips and bringing in expert speakers to talk about nutrition.
A 2020 Dreams Healthy Eating workshop will enhance any programme you may be planning for your school and reinforce the message that making healthy food choices forms the foundation of a happy, successful life.
